    ANNOUNCEMENTS

ITE MEMBER EPPO VAN WEELDEREN SERVING OVERSEAS

    • DA Watt Consulting (DAW) has a proud history of supporting the Canadian Forces.  To support Canada's military and to demonstrate its understanding of the benefit that reservists bring to the civilian workplace, DAW adopted a military leave policy that allows reservists time off annually for training or courses of up to two weeks, with top up pay.  As well, they formally allow time off for operational tours, with no loss of seniority or rank.  For this support the company has received numerous Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) Awards of Excellence.

We are happy to announce that Lieutenant-Colonel Eppo van Weelderen is currently serving overseas as the Base & Afghan National Security Forces Infrastructure Staff Officer at the ISAF Joint Command Headquarters in Kabul.  We are all very proud of Eppo for his service and look forward to his safe return in early June.

    About ITESA

The ITE Southern Alberta Section's geographic area includes the City of Red Deer south to the United States' border. Our membership currently includes 237 transportation professionals, a majority of whom work/reside in the City of Calgary. In general, the section hosts monthly luncheon meetings (September to June) where technical presentations are made to the broad transportation community. The section is also actively pursuing several professional development courses and seminars to provide learning opportunities for the membership.

The Southern Alberta Section hosted the Canadian ITE Annual Conference in 2001. That conference gave the section an opportunity to meet other members from across the county. In 2009, the Lethbridge Chapter of ITE Southern Alberta formed.
